Quickie at JB Williams Park

It was a decent day to mountain bike so headed up to the JB Williams Park and explored some of the northern trails - they were a bit challenging! I had hiked here August 2021--mostly the main fire roads--so it was good to find out there's good singletrack here!

This very picturesque trail winds along a stream but I should have taken it in the opposite direction (westward instead of eastward) as it was all uphill and tricky (very narrow with lots of roots and rocks)

Another Hike at the Shoddy Mill Preserve

It was a beautiful day - especially for February! Sunny and in the mid forties when I took this late afternoon hike....

Short Walk - East Glastonbury

 Cris and I stopped for a quick walk around the East Glastonbury pond - it was beautiful and sunny!

A Return to Shoddy Mill Dam

Back in June 2021 - I paid a visit to this dam ruin. It's a very peaceful park and I returned today to explore a bit further north.

The Things You See in the Woods!

My friend Al gave me a tour of a small part of the Meshomasic Park in East Glastonbury that I hadn't yet explored. It was ridiculously cold to start but as we hiked, the wind and the cold improved a bit.

What's so usual about this bush?
It's Holly - very rare throughout most of Connecticut...

Phillips Indian Rock Shelter

Over 400 artifacts were found in this area when it was excavated in the 1950s.
