A nostalgic visit to Woodway Park

On the way back from a musical event in Stamford  - I drove by my old neighborhood and did a short hike around Woodway Park. It was nice to see the Town finally put a sign up. It also appears that the ATV crowd finally stop crapping up this place but sadly all the trails I built have not been maintained and are barely still visible :-(

Snow!!! Woodway was a Winter Wonderland

Amidst the snow flurries, I hiked up to Woodway and snowshoed on my trail. I even met someone else who was snowshoeing there as well - we had a nice chat :-)

Woodway In the Snow

After the intense storm on Monday Feb. 1st,  I ventured up to Woodway on Tuesday to snowshoe. Although it was cloudy and gray - it was still enjoyable.

The deer got here before me!

Thursday was bright and sunny - what a difference the sun makes! In the late afternoon, the park looked beautiful!

Woodway Footprints

We had a light snow cover yesterday and last night - I took a hike to enjoy the whiteness.

Looks like a dog with his owner preceded me!

Kinda cool - this old tree relic...

Deer Slumber Party? Sleuthing tracks in the Snow...

I returned to Woodway and was happy to see my trails being used - both by folks in the neighborhood and animals!

A return visit - trails are being used! :-)

After Nor'easter Gail dump 8+ inches on us - I decided to walk up to Woodway Park and snowshoe my trails. It was very beautiful!

Woodway Revival

Raked out the trails for autumn riding.  The sunlight through the trees was nice!

Restoring Sanity

Who's sanity? Mine

The Woodway Park entrance has been blocked by large rocks (Thanks Stamford Park and Rec. and Stamford Police). Previously destroyed by ATVs (documented here) - the park (with a bit of work) can return to normalcy - nice erosion -free single track trails...
