Fat Tire 2008 Festival

Blue Mountain Park - Peekskill, NY

- Fat Tire Festival Parking Lot -
We arrived at 10 AM and stayed til 4 PM.

Tents on second level in distance are located in the main event field.
The main trails and mountain are directly behind me (opposite the directon the camera is pointing).

Although we took the intermediate group ride, due to the brutal hot and humid weather (it was a weather advisory day), we bailed on the first run up into the mountain bike trails after only 10 minutes or so. The rest of the day was spent in the main event area...

- Fat Tire Festival Main Event Field -
Registration tent, vendors

 ...and crappy rock bands
(terrible out-of-tune ear shattering vocals by 16-year olds
pretending to be 25-year old rock stars -- oh the horrors)

The "skinnies" - a wide assortment of fun rides to attempt

- Greg on Skinnies -

Greg "Doin' The Limbo"

- Riding the Skinny Contest -

All the skinnies were placed together into one long challenging run for the Skinny Contest.
(background recorded music emanating from festival PA)

Back home after a disastrous day for me at Mianus River Park - Fell in a muddy stream and then... ...had a stupid fall which bashed up my knee pretty bad

Trumbull - Greg on a Log Ride

My Son - Stunt Riding

Greg on a Skinny
(upper stunt park - south end)
this was a difficult ride - the tree was twisted and filled with knobs
it was a great moment for sure...!

13 years old and kicking' butt, A memorable moment for us both...

Rich - Under Rock

Admittedly not the greatest photo
We are at the highest point of the park, 10 ft from the cliffs
I am grabbing a water break sitting under a large boulder in upper right of photo

Trumbull - Nasty Bump!

Pequonnock River Valley State Park

September 2, 2007

Rich - Nasty Bump

I hit a diagonal root going too fast on the little loop
--before the stream--at the "pre-start" at the south end..
What a way to start our day's adventure!
(Fortunately it didn't hurt that much)

More Nasty Bump !
(medical photography courtesy of Greg Coffey :-))

Greg - pre-roller
(near river - blue trail, south end - he didn't go for it...)

Nasty Bump -six days later
(caution - not for the squeamish...)
I'll give it two more days and if it doesn't start to get better - guess I'll need to see a doctor...
