Late afternoon--after a jaunt around my backyard forest trails--I went down to Upper Cotton Hollow for a quick hike. I should have worn my crampons as is what pretty slippery in spots so I didn't go that far. Needless to say, it was still nice in the late afternoon sun...

East of Case (A Quickie)

Took a nice hike with Al Tinti again today. He gave me a short tour of part of Case Mountain off Birch Mountain Road that I hadn't yet explored. 

Sadly I messed up with the GPS on my phone but the map is more less the trek...

The Raven's Nest

As soon as we left the parking lot we heard loud cawing so he showed me the huge raven's nest in the microwave tower nearby. The raven was perched up higher and I couldn't get a decent photo. BTW - these birds are huge - much bigger than crows!

Yep the ubiquitous power lines - it seems everywhere you hike or bike around here, you end up under these at some point!

Al Tinti invited me for a hike - it was too cold and icy to bike for sure. We hiked around the trails to the east of the old Nike site in Manchester

It was a nice hike and I looked forward to returning here on bike :-)

I rode some of it last October

I was very cold and icy but I wanted to get out for a bit and hike. I was glad to see folks (both hikers and a fat biker) are using my trails!
