2015 - Annual Pequonnock Valley Hike

Every fall, the Trumbull Historical Society in partnership with the Trumbull Nature Center leads a guided hike through the Pequonnock Valley State Park. I was asked to co-lead the hike a few years ago.

This year, the hike explored the sites of Andrew Tait’s Paper mill, the remains of the Trumbull Pond Reservoir spillway and dam, and the Billboard Cliffs. We returned via the Yellow Trail which gave us the opportunity to visit some of the topography of the higher ridges and culminated with the spectacular sweeping view from the cliffs along Rt. 25.

Despite the overcast weather, we had a decent turnout and folks seemed to enjoy the trek back thru the higher elevation as it was a completely new experience for many.
