Brooklyn Bridge (Lunch Hour)

The Brooklyn Bridge

Built in  1883,  the bridge’s construction took 14 years, involved 600 workers and cost $15 million (more than $320 million in today’s dollars). At least two dozen people died in the process, including its original designer. Now more than 125 years old, this iconic feature of the New York City skyline still carries roughly 150,000 vehicles and pedestrians every day.

Lunch Hour

I took a brisk walk with two of my work colleagues to the Brooklyn Bridge. We went halfway across and then came back. It was crowded but we had a lot of fun.

The walkway is in the center of the bridge above the traffic lanes and shared between bikers and walkers. The day was little overcast so the photos are a little gray but nevertheless it was great to be out in the fresh air and over the East River with the skyscrapers of Manhattan as our backdrop.

We started at the Tillary Street entrance in Brooklyn
