Woo Eee - Back at the Valley!

Since I was down in Stamford for a musical event - I couldn't resist stopping at Trumbull on the way back. Its been a couple of years since I rode here and it was a thrill to revisit this spectacular spot.

I was bikeless (for a change) and after parking at the Whitney Ave lot, I hiked in through the super rugged north end (Indian Ledges). It never disappoints!

Of course - Copper Creek!
Bummer - the trail I built a few years back - no longer exists! Huge trees have obliterated it :-(
It was late afternoon and the sun was going down. Here Kevin and I are heading to Turtle Rock.
Another bummer - the sunken boardwalk - man there's a lot of water here now...
Ah... but the rest of the park still has all those rugged granite outcroppings and cliffs
Could resist this perfect sun placement - It felt like a Druid moment!
Yep - I of course never rode it but the hard core riders I knew did! Yikes!
Ages ago I did ride down this (hugging the cliffs) but sadly its all overgrown now

A nostalgic visit to Woodway Park

On the way back from a musical event in Stamford  - I drove by my old neighborhood and did a short hike around Woodway Park. It was nice to see the Town finally put a sign up. It also appears that the ATV crowd finally stop crapping up this place but sadly all the trails I built have not been maintained and are barely still visible :-(

Snowshoeing (Backyard Bliss Jan 2024)

After the winter storm on Sunday, Monday was a day of sunshine and a great day to snowshoe in my backyard trails!

Colonie Park - By The River!

On the way up to visit my mother I stopped by Colonie Mohawk River Park to ride the trails by the river.  I have often ridden the trails on the south side of the rail trail but this was my first time riding the trails by the river - they were great!

Some of the Green Trails (as marked on Trailforks) have been "sanitized" for young mothers with baby carriages but they are still fun to ride
There's plenty of decent singletrack!
Along the river was great!
This is the location of the photo ABOVE
The lovely Mohawk River:
There's even a covered bridge!
Even though I was a bit pressed for time, I couldn't resist riding a bit of the trails on the south side of the rail trail which I used to ride quite frequently :-)

Sunday Afternoon - Cowles and Case

It was a cool and breezy typical autumn day so I decided to head up to Cowles Park and ride the Blue Trails. Sadly Microburst and Inside Job were very wet with frequent puddles and quite a few muddy sections so I called it quits after riding just a bit of Inside Job. Next time I hope to hit the Blue Trails further west...

On a whim I thought I would go a check out the Case Mountain Dam - I hadn't been there yet even though I've ridden Case quite a few times.  As you can see its a beautiful spot - WOWEEE!

No More Rain - Finally!

Took a short late afternoon hike - South of Howe - East of Keeney.  The stream was high due to the incredible amount of rain we've had recently but the trees are starting to change color - mmm... mmm...
